HIGH TREASON PRODS. MAKES DEBUT WITH THRILLER/DRAMA HURT AS PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY COMMENCES MELORA WALTERS, WILLIAM MAPOTHER, SOFIA VASSILIEVA AMONG ENSEMBLE CAST
Los Angeles, CA – High Treason Productions, an independent film production company, announced it has commenced principal photography on HURT, its debut feature film production. The film, directed by Barbara Stepansky, is the first of three fully-financed features to go under the newly formed banner headed by Eduardo Levy and James Martin. Levy was Director of Credit Trading and Portfolio Management with Credit Suisse First Boston in Brazil for over a decade before venturing into indie production and financing following his completion of an MFA degree in Film Producing from the American Film Institute (AFI). Martin, Levy’s partner at High Treason, also earned an MFA in Screenwriting from AFI, where the two met, and held several senior marketing positions at Astral Television Networks and film distributor TVA in his native Canada.
HURT, a taut, psychological thriller and character-driven family drama, was co-written by Stepansky and Alison Lea Bingeman (CSI:Miami; NCIS) based on a story by Martin and Levy. Stepansky, an AFI graduate in Directing, is a Student Emmy winner for Best Director and the recipient of the Franklin J. Schaffner AFI Fellow Award and the Angelus Film Festival’s Patrick Peyton Award for Excellence in Filmmaking.
Among the principal cast set to star in the ensemble film are Melora Walters (Big Love; Magnolia, Boogie Nights), William Mapother (In the Bedroom; Lost; World Trade Center), Sofia Vassilieva (Medium; Eloise), Johanna Braddy (Cold Case; The Riches; Surf’s Up), Jackson Rathbone (The O.C.; Beautiful People) and Ava Gaudet (Ugly Betty). The film is being produced by Levy and Martin, with Nikolette Orlandou (Scary Movie 4) serving as line producer and Ralph Kaechele as director of photography.
