Ralph began his cinematography studies at FH Dortmund in 1996, the University of Applied Sciences, and the Academy of Media Art in Cologne, graduating in 2000. In 2002, he was awarded both major German film scholarships, allowing him to continue his studies at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. Ralph has photographed and worked on more than 60 productions, features, commercials, music videos, documentaries, and shorts, including OLGA BENARIO, FRIDAY NIGHT, SCHLEYER, A GERMAN STORY, and 1000 JOURNALS. He also worked as 2nd unit DP on the acclaimed picture GOOD BYE, LENIN!, which won six European Film Academy Awards, nine German Film Academy Awards, as well as Golden Globes and BAFTA nominations. Ralph's works were nominated for the German Max Ophuels Award, the German Camera Award, Best Student Film at the Camerimage Festival, and won best European Program Opener for CHANCELLOR BUNGALOW and Best Student Thesis Feature at the International Film Festival in Munich in 2001.
